Why choose bespoke pergolas?
- Natural aesthetics – With its warm texture and earthy tones, wood blends harmoniously into any environment, be it a garden, terrace, or patio. The natural beauty of wood adds a rustic and timeless charm, helping you create an inviting, relaxing atmosphere.
- Versatile design – Wooden pergolas offer a wide range of designs and customisation options, and can serve many different purposes in your garden. Whether you pair it with a sun shade to create a sheltered outdoor cooking and dining area, or add side panels for enhanced privacy in a hot tub area, the possibilities are endless with a bespoke pergola.
- Unmatched durability and weather resistance – Despite their delicate appearance, wooden pergolas are surprisingly durable and provide excellent weather resistance. Made from pressure-treated timber, our bespoke pergolas can resist the cold, rainy British climate for many years, making them a lasting and enduring feature in any outdoor space.
- Simple to maintain – Wooden pergolas are super easy to maintain, and all you need to do to keep them looking their best is clean them gently with warm, soapy water every couple of weeks, and apply protective treatments every few years to keep them looking their best.

Important information about timber pergolas
Please note that, with timber being a natural product, it may vary in colour and can move, swell, and shrink, but this is normal timber behaviour.
Sometimes cracks can open up, but remember it is entirely normal, and once the inner core has dried, the crack will close up. Likewise, as the moisture in the air increases, so will the free water absorbed by capillary action in the wood and once again the cracks will close up.
You may also notice some warping and splitting in the posts, but this is natural behaviour for timber and should go away with time.

A modern wood pergola for patio spaces
If you’re looking to upgrade your patio, decking area, or outdoor dining space, a stylish garden structure like a wooden pergola is more than ideal.
The Cube brings a clean, contemporary look that works just as well against modern render as it does alongside older, more traditional brickwork. The squared posts and simple rafter lines give it a more modern feel than a traditional arched pergola, while the natural timber keeps things warm, rather than clinical.
As a bespoke timber pergola, it’s built to your area’s exact dimensions, rather than a fixed size, so there’s no awkward overhang or gap along the edge of your paving. Add a sun shade for a sheltered seating area, or leave it open for a lighter, more contemporary wooden pergola look that still marks out the space and gives it some structure.
Because it’s self-assembled from a flat-pack kit, you can position it precisely where your patio needs it, whether that’s tight against the house for an outdoor dining area, or freestanding further down the garden for a separate relaxation spot.
Wooden pergolas built to support climbing plants and roses
The Cube isn’t just a shelter; it also gives climbing plants something sturdy to grow into.
The solid 150mm x 150mm posts and rafters are more than capable of supporting the weight of mature climbing roses, wisteria, clematis, or honeysuckle as it fills out over the seasons, whereas thinner trellis or metal arches can struggle once a few years’ growth has taken hold.
It’s a popular choice for anyone planning a cottage garden aesthetic, using the rafters to train roses across the top so the pergola gradually disappears under the foliage, or growing plants up one or two sides while leaving the rest open. Since every structure is made to your measurements, you can size it to fit around existing beds or borders rather than the other way around.
As with any other wooden pergola for plants, it’s worth leaving a little extra clearance around the posts when planting, so you can still get in to tie in growth or carry out any timber maintenance in future.
